CA - Creativity & Aestetics
For me CA means shaping the qualities of a design, through which people understand its intend and interaction. This means that it is more than making things look attractive, and has to focus more on interpretation of humans. Form, sounds, material, visual hierarchy and interaction influences feelings like clarity and trust.
Taking the course TSoST on sound design, taught me what a big influence sounds can have in and on a context. While the M1.1 project explored material qualities, and gave me a new perspective on physical design. My focus in the master moved more towards a communication perspective, making visualizations and data physicalisation in the course DED. In my own time I also developed my drawing skills, to better communicate ideas to users in an early stage.
In my FMP this was translated into designs of user interface elements, like answer structures, icons, layout, and visibility of for example uncertainty of the model. Done in all kinds of ways, like paper prototypes and digital mockups. Presentation of design with AI in this way is relevant, as it influences the users’ interpretation but also their trust of and in a AI-tool. Connecting CA back to US and MDC.
